Construction works update for Heart of the City: Market Place and Vennels project

All works will halt as not to cause disruption to the Miners Gala on Saturday. The existing excavations will be filled and made safe, and all fencing will be removed... Carillion and Durham City Vision hope everyone has an enjoyable day.
We are working in the Western side of the market place in front of shop doorways and the indoor market to prepare and lay new paving. The new paving materials of English sandstone and Chinese granite for these areas are now on site and being prepared for laying. Works will continue during daytime and evenings to suit opening and closing times of the shops and businesses in this area of the Market Place.
After excavation and preparation works have been carried out , we have commenced relaying of the selected block paving to provide an improved pavement for pedestrians and traffic. Works are ongoing at the Western end of Framwellgate bridge and we shall continue to work closely with the shopkeepers, businesses and the general public to ensure that minimum disruption is encountered.
Silver Street
Trial excavation works will be occurring at various locations to determine utility locations for further works.
