Durham City Vision is an unincorporated association which comprises a number of partners that form its Board. These include Durham County Council, North East Chamber of Commerce, One North East, Durham University, Homes and Communities agency and Durham Cathedral, all of whom are signatories to a Memorandum of Understanding completed in July 2007.
The partnership was created in order to drive an integrated approach to physical regeneration ensuring the City of Durham cements its place as the ‘jewel in the crown of North East England.’
Critical to this is the development of activities that will enable the City to fully realise its economic potential and create employment opportunities to strengthen Durham’s position as a key driver of regional wealth creation.
The partnership is made up of local leaders and regeneration specialists from Durham and the North East of England and is known as the Durham City Vision Board. The Board was set up to oversee a transformation in Durham after the local authorities developed a Masterplan for the regeneration of the city. It oversees the work of the Vision Executive and core delivery team and acts in an advisory capacity.
The Executive and core delivery team delivers projects on-the-ground.
Durham County Council serves both as Accountable Body and the host employer to the Durham City Vision staff.
